For such a powerful locomotive, I think the class 55 Deltic has an underwhelming horn. I wonder why the designers of the locomotive chose that particular sound? I suppose it does make a uniquely recognisable Deltic sound. Maybe it was chosen to be understated, as the power of the mighty Deltic meant it had no need to have a brash sounding horn to create an impression! | Adrian Watson
