“Satan’s Storm” a terrifying meteorological event that struck Kopperl, Texas, on June 15, 1960. This phenomenon, known as a heat burst, occurs when a collapsing thunderstorm causes a sudden downburst of hot, dry air. In the case of Kopperl, the heat burst produced wind gusts up to 75 mph and raised temperatures to an astonishing 140°F (60°C) in a very short period.
