Hot tub folliculitis is a skin infection of the hair follicles caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, usually after using poorly maintained hot tubs, whirlpools, or pools. It appears as itchy red bumps or pus-filled spots on areas of skin that were in the water, like the chest, back, buttocks, and thighs — typically sparing the face and neck.
