Wake Tech College Police Officer Travis Smith designed the Safe Bucks project to build a positive relationship between officers and students. The project rewards students who demonstrate good campus citizenship with coupons for campus vending machines. To date, officers have handed out more than 100 “safe bucks” to students on Wake Tech campuses for a variety of good deeds, including turning in lost property, helping a fellow student with car trouble and more.
