You always see me turning beads with a skew I’ve been asked to show it with a spindle gouge so thought these legs would be a perfect opportunity. Note how much the tool has to swing to keep the bevel contact which gives the good finish on the surface. The skew is by far the best tool for turning a taper IMO. These 800mm long beech tapers are simple and a skew which ever style you favour gives the best results. I see many turners even some professionals who avoid the skew but it’s worth mastering.
