Amtrak 231, an EMD F40PHR built in 1977, had its first solo run down a section of the Illinois Railway Museum mainline the evening of August 13th. This was after repairing/replacing portions of the cables going to the #1 and #2 traction motors over the weekend. The #4 motor will need much more extensive replacement of those cables at a later date and was cutout. After some additional mechanical work being completed on the engine and accessory equipment, 231 was out for a test trip late Wednesday
