Vienna Zoo has announced the birth of two new lynx cubs. They were born May 5th, but the shy animals have only just come out into the open because "the mother gives birth in secret, often in a hollow tree stump" to protect her cubs. The lynx disappeared from Austria in1892, as the animal was seen as a threat to humans. European breeding programme, ESB (European Studbook), aims to resettle the lynx in the wild.
