While calypso music has virtually graced every corner and every stage of the globe, its real story is one of constant movement and progress; coming a long way in the last 100 years alone. The first recording of calypso music was an instrumental performance by a band called Lovey's Orchestra in 1912. Just two years later, Julian Whiterose and the Victor Gramophone Company of New York would make history when they recorded "Iron Duke in the Land' – the first vocal recording of calypso ever. #Nation
