They live mostly in slower moving rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries along the Gulf of Mexico, but they have also been found further out in saltwater. Alligator gar populations have substantially decreased over the past 50 years for several reasons - over-harvesting and reduced habitat to name a few. Darth gator here likes to target my head, he’s often the best behaved when stationing and following training, but like I always say trained is NOT tamed and once I break training he see opportunity and tries to take my head off! Notice that once they realize I have control still how they calm back down, they’re very smart and calculating.
