This is a second phase Navajo Chief’s blanket from the 1860s and it’s on display at @mfaboston here in Boston, MA. What I love about this particular weaving (aside from the fact it’s in perfect condition) is the design element in the middle of each of the 12 “piano keys.” This lightning pattern present in the red block areas make the weaving look very unique when compared to the many of the other Chief’s blankets I’ve seen in my career. #chiefsblanket #navajo #weaving #navajoweaving #textilearts
