在三十年前傳統家用遊戲機大部份都是利用 Rom 帶作儲存媒體，其餘還有磁碟，但當年 Rom 帶因為製作成本高，固然之容量大大受限制，就算成本比較平的磁碟亦都一樣，因此 NEC 在三十年前的今天發佈 PC Engine CD-ROM 2 系統，這個是全球第一款使用 CD-ROM 作為遊戲儲存媒體，而 CD-ROM 2 系統是一個外接插件，必需要配合 PC Engine 主機一起使用。 使用 CD-ROM 的比起主流 Rom 帶好處是大大降低製作成本 (縱使初初推出時價格仍然處於高昂)，更加方便大量製作，此外可以使用聲音軌作為遊戲播放音樂甚至真人語音，這樣大大加強戲機中的音效，另遊戲更加吸引傳神，但同時會有加載時間發生。 當年推出 CD-ROM 2 系統的同時，同日亦推出兩款 CD-ROM 遊戲，第一隻是經典中之經典的《Fighting Street》(即是元祖版的街頭霸王 Street Figther) ，而另一隻是《No Ri Ko 小川範子》，當中《Fighting Street》移植度相當不俗 (當年的機能來說)，而音樂則全面重新混音，效果更超越當年街機，因此當年我都被《Fight
