Much of the rain is occurring behind the cold front with observations indicating winds from more of a north direction. Light to moderate snow continues to fall over most of the region, with snowfall rates of 1/4" to 1/2" per hour and brief bursts to 3/4" per hour at times. Heavier snow is falling in the eastern Catskills, mid Hudson Valley and Litchfield Hills, where snowfall rates are an inch per hour or more.
