The WB Television Network launched on this day in 1995. It was a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainmen and the Tribune Broadcasting subsidiary of the Tribune Company. The network principally aired programs targeting teenagers and young adults between the ages of 12 and 34. As the NY flagship station, WPIX created a campaign of local spots to create buzz for the new network.
